Discover the life of a soldier in the Canadian Expeditionary Force! Visit the Museum on Saturday, September 9, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for the special event: Experience the First World War.
Dominion of Canada Reenactment Corps will be on hand to demonstrate how soldiers prepared for the Western Front, including training techniques and the equipment they carried. Fill in an attestation paper of your own to learn what it was like to be recruited during World War I. Participants will work through mock training exercises and interact with the reenactment corps members in hands-on activities. Some of the topics that will be covered include gas masks, rifles, and trench warfare. At 1:00 p.m. Curator/Supervisor Dana Thorne will give a presentation about Lambton's own 149th Battalion.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65+) and students, $3 for children aged 4 to 12, and free for children aged 3 and under. This event will feature weapons, simulated gunfire, and discussions of battle and may not be suitable for all ages.
