In December 2020, a nearly 200 year old log cabin was dismantled and moved from Canatara Park in Sarnia to Lambton Heritage Museum in Grand Bend. Although it has been known locally as the "Canatara Cabin" for decades, this building was actually first built in Huron County, and was moved to Lakeshore Road before eventually coming to Canatara Park in the 1970s. To ensure its long-term preservation, this amazing building has been moved one final time!
Join us for a panel presentation that explores the history of this incredible building and its multiple relocations. Curator/Supervisor Dana Thorne from Lambton Heritage Museum will be presenting in partnership with Sandi Spaulding and Roger Hay from the "Save the Canatara Cabin" committee. Sandi and Roger both have familial connections to the cabin and will share interesting stories about the cabin's history. Learn more about the ongoing restoration efforts and fundraising campaign to rebuild this cabin at Lambton Heritage Museum, where it can be enjoyed by future generations.
